"The Lorz Italian Garlic is an heirloom from the northwestern part of the US, with a very strong flavor. The Lorz family brought this plant to Washington State’s Columbia River Basin in the early1900s from their home in Italy.
Lorz garlic thrives in hot summers as it picks up quite a bit of the heat becoming garlic with a very bold flavor. The bulb can have anywhere from two to eighteen cream-colored cloves, which are contained within its purple colored bulb and its semi thick wrappers. Generally harvested in the mid-season, the Lorz Italian garlic is stored well for six to eight months." (Slow Food USA)
